About

Michelle is a New York City based self described “Professional Broad.” With a love of performers and personalities of the 20th century, Michelle’s aesthetic can be described as “eclectic vintage kitch.”

A New Jersey native, Michelle attended Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey and received a Bachelor of Music Degree. Her love of golden age musicals and movies always served to inform her style, and she has always had a love of the style of bygone days. While growing up in an era obsessed with youth and natural beauty, Michelle has always been attracted to strong, bold, middle aged women. Among her major inspirations are Rosalind Russell, Talulah Bankhead, Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Ruth Gordon, Elsa Maxwell and Emma Goldman.

Michelle currently lives in Harlem with her partner LaRena, and dogs, Margot Martindale and Imogene Coca. She performs at numerous cabaret clubs and theatres such as The Heights Players, The Duplex, Don’t Tell Momma, and The Gallery Players. She is a writer of several historical plays and screenplays and is the Institutional Development Director of Broadway Bods, New York’s first fat positive theatre company, and is on the Executive Committee of The Heights Players.

I would describe my style and attitude as…

A cross between Iris Apfel, Miriam Margoles, Lucille Ball. But I am a devoted maximalist through and through. Although, as another inspiration once said

Styleโ€”all who have it share one thing: originality.
